Channel Seven has obtained an injunction to stop ABC TV’s The Chaser’s War on Everything from screening a segment featuring Today Tonight host Anna Coren.

The commercial broadcaster sought the injunction last night in the New South Wales Supreme Court, after Chaser stars Chas Licciardello and Andrew Hansen recorded the segment with Coren at Channel Seven’s Martin Place studios.

The Chaser’s executive producer, Julian Morrow, says Coren was a “good sport” about appearing in the comedy skit – ‘What have we learned from Current Affairs this week?’

“But then, basically, things went absolutely troppo afterwards,” Morrow told 702′s Adam Spencer.

“There was a bit of a Mexican stand-off with cameras for about an hour and all these Today Tonight executives went berserk and ran off to the Supreme Court.

“I must say, we have considered ourselves – in the last couple of years – basically in competition with Today Tonight in terms of the funniest show on television.

“I think Today Tonight really has been whipping us, because those guys are masters of irony and comedy. And they’ve done it again. We just can’t keep up with them, so it’s hats off [to them].”

Morrow says The Chaser will go to air tonight, minus the Coren segment.

“We’re going to do what, I suppose, a good current affairs show should do and have a very shonky re-enactment in its place.”

‘The Chaser’s War on Everything’ airs on ABC TV at 9:00pm on Wednesdays.

FIRST, there was The Chaser’s War on Everything – now tasteful Picture magazine have declared “phwoar” on the ABC pranksters.

Executive producer Julian Morrow got a double dose of his own medicine recently when a pair – or is it a set? – of topless models working for the lads mag surprised him while he tried to spring a surprise on campaigning Labor MP, Peter Garrett.

As the former Midnight Oil frontman ducked for cover, while on the hustings in his electorate at Coogee, the saucy models got to their man in Morrow.

After disrupting the Chaser’s stunt in a tit-for-tat reprise attack, Morrow seemed to be won over by the women, asking if they could follow him everywhere.
